The Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Pu K. Lalrinliana who is on a 3 days visit to Lunglei & Lawngtlai Districts, yesterday visited Lunglei District’s Principal Distribution Centre (PDC) located at Luangmual in Lunglei town. The Minister was accompanied by MLA Dr. K Pachhunga and top officials of the Department including Secretary Pu Zothanmawia & Director Pi Ramdinliani.

Praising the employees of the Department for their efficient logistics management even in the face of numerous challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Minister instructed them to continue to ensure timely delivery of essentials from the PDC godown to supply centres across the District in a smooth and uninterrupted manner. “It is our Department’s responsibility to ensure that not a single citizen goes hungry,” he stated, encouraging the District officials to voice their concerns and report their requirements.

Lunglei DCSO Pi Carolyn LB Khiangte and Supply Inspector Pu A. Sanglura gave reports on the main initiatives in the District, and various issues faced by the Department, especially transportation bottlenecks in the western belt of the District ie Tlabung Sub Division. The officials reported that despite issues faced in transportation, the Department has ensured monsoon stock even in remote locations such as Chawngte, Tlabung, Borapansury, Putlungasih, Sangau, Lungtian, S. Vanlaiphai, Tawipui(S) supply centres. Issues such as expansion & repair of the PDC, renting a temporary makeshift godown located inside the premises of the 2nd Battalion MAP, construction of retaining wall, approach road ect were discussed at length with the Minister.
