The Mizoram State Legal Services Authority  organized a function on 7th June 2010 at Tourist Lodge on 'Access to Justice and Socio-Economic Development'.  Justice Dr. Mukundakam Sharma, Judge, Supreme Court of India and Mr. Lalsawta, the Law Minister graced the occasion. Hon'ble Justice H. Baruah, Judge, Gauhati High Court, Mizoram Bench, who is also the Executive Chairman of the Mizoram State Legal Services Authority delivered the welcome address.
Justice Sharma, who is also the Chairman of the NER Committee on  Access to Justice and Socio-Economic Development spoke about Socio-Economic and Political Justice in the context of the Right to Education Act and touched upon important laws and enactments like Rights of Children, Maintainance & Welfare of Parents and Senoir Citizens Act and Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances Act.

Addressing the function, Mr. Lalsawta spoke about various steps taken by the State Government to ensure access to justice at grassroots level; and touched upon various aspects of Alternative Disputes Resolution Mechanism including Lok Adalats and the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act.

Mr. Chawngtinthanga, Parliamentary Secretary, Law & Judicial; Mr. Lalrinawma, Chairman, Law Commission were also present at the function.
