Aizawl, 15.10.2024: Sports & Youth Services Department organized Seminar on Sports Medicine and First Aid (Oct ni 15-16, 2024) and Seminar on Sports Psychology and Method of Training (Oct ni 17-18, 2024) for Coaches under the department as well as those from Khelo India State Centre of Excellence (KISCE), District Khelo India Centre (KIC) and members of Scouts & Guides and Adventure Wing. The 2 Day Seminar Programme was inaugurated today at SYS Conference Hall and over 55 trainees were registered.
Pu Lalramsanga Sailo, Secretary, Sports & Youth Services Department inaugurated the Seminar. In his speech, he highlighted the department's mission for promoting sports of various disciplines. Additionally, he reminded the coaches of the immense responsibility they have as a guide for youngsters not only in their physical development but also in health and self discipline.
The Seminar will cover performance improvement, health, diet and other crucial areas for sports development. Dr. C. Zonunsanga, SRH-ZMC, Falkawn; Pi VL Muanpuii, MHSSP, NHM and Dr. C. Lalfakzuali, Mizoram University were invited as resource persons. The inaugural programme was chaired by Pu H Zothansanga, Superintendent, SYS while Pu Lalngilneia Colney, Youth Welfare Officer, SYS also spoke on the occasion.
Sports Coaches under the SYS Department have given training to an extensive number of youth all over Mizoram, producing reputable sportsmen who have competed at national and international level. The SYS department under its Vision Olympics 2036 undertaking has carried out Talent Identification and Village Level Coaching, and is in the process of building Public Private-Partnership to nurture and promote sportspersons. Most recently, the Department handed out Incentive Cash Award to 416 Meritorious Sportspersons.
