Aizawl the 29th November 2022 : The IBM SkillsBuild - School Chapter, was inaugurated on 28th November 2022 at Govt. Mizo High School by the Deputy Commissioner of Aizawl District and The District Skill Committee Chairperson of Aizawl District Dr. Lalriatzuali Ralte, IAS in the presence of LESDE Director Pi Angela Zothanpuii, District Labor Employment Officer, and member secretary of District Skill Comm, Pu Vanlalhruaia Sailo, IAS probationer Mr. Aaquib Mohhammad, Project Associate – IBM Skillsbuild Mr. Shubham Naskar, Head Master Mizo High School Pu Hmingchungunga, and Mahatma Gandhi National Fellow and member of District Skill Committee, Aizawl District Miss Akshaya Jalasteen.

The IBM SkillsBuild – School Chapter in phase one will cover Fifteen Selected schools starting from November 28th to December 7th. The project is a non-financial upskilling project in partnership with Govt. of Mizoram through the District Skill Committee, Aizawl District, and IBM Global with the implementation partner CSRBOX. Through this, the District Skill Committee, Aizawl District will be the first to partner with an international body in upskilling and start implementing NEP 2020 in the district.

Through the partnership, the students in Mizoram get lifetime Access to the IBM platform, free of cost which otherwise is sold to outside universities and schools at huge prices starting from lakhs to crores. The platform ensures free online and offline courses, IBM certification to both students and Educators, free software downloads, internship and placement support for active learners, and providing them international level exposure.

The “Aizawl TechSchool Competition” was conducted among the participatory schools as part of the initiative. St. Paul’s Higher Secondary was awarded “Best Tech School of the Year”, Ramhlun South High School was awarded “ Best Tech School of the Year (High School”, Mr. Pebam Binodkumar from St. Paul’s HSS was awarded “Best Tech Instructor of the Year”, Pu Lalenghluna from Govt. Mizo High School was awarded “Best Tech instructor of the Year (High School)”, by Miss. Chhavi Joshi, Class XII from St. Paul’s HSS was awarded “ Senior Tech Wizard” and Miss Faith Lalremruati, Class X from St. Paul’s HSS was awarded “Junior Tech Wizard” after winning the Competition.

The College Chapter was already held at 10 schools and has completed phase one of implementation from October 31st to November 11th. The project was initiated by the Mahatma Gandhi National Fellow under IIM Lucknow from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Govt. of India for Aizawl District with the District Skill Committee of Aizawl headed by Dr, Lalriatzuali Ralte IAS, the honorable DC of Aizawl to promote the Skill Development Mechanism, Industrial Linkage and NEP 2020 implementation in the District of Aizawl.
