A training session for polling officials deputed for the upcoming Local Council bye-elections was organised at DC’s Conference Hall, Aizawl today.

A total of 78 officials including 12 Presiding Officers, 24 Polling Officers, 15  Counting Supervisors and 27 Counting Assistants attended the training. The training was conducted by Pu Vanlalrova, Deputy Director, Sports & Youth Services wherein the officials were acquainted with their respective duties and responsibilities to conduct a successful election.

Local Council bye-election for one seat each in II/1 - Chaltlang Local Council, IX/3 - Chhinga Veng Local Council and  XIII/3 - Kanan Local Council will be held on 30th August, 2019. Government employees residing in these local councils areas are granted holiday on poll day to cast their votes. The District Election Officer, Aizawl also appealed to all the eligible voters to turn out in large numbers and  exercise their franchise.
