Dated Champhai, the 7th April, 2021: District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Champhai District today conducted Capacity Building Training for Village Disaster Management Committee (VDMC) under Khawbung RD Block at I&PR Auditorium, here at Champhai.

Speaking at the inaugural function, Dr.Lallawmkima, DIPRO Champhai reiterated the importance of setting up of Village Disaster Management Committee and further strengthening it by organizing capacity building training. The DIPRO urged the VDMC members to always stay alert and abide by norms laid down by experts and authorities to be able to tackle unforeseen disasters.

Resource person Pu VL. Hruaimawia, District Organizer, DM&R Champhai gave lectures on the formation of Village Disaster Management Committee and Village Disaster Management Plan. State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) norms were also discussed at the training. As a preventive measure to stop the spread of Covid-19, Soaps were also distributed to VDMC members, 35 VDMC members under Khawbung RD Block attended the said training.
