Aizawl, 24.06.2024: As part of the Mizoram government's initiative to ensure smooth implementation of the three newly introduced Major Criminal Laws, i.e., Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sarakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), a training programme was held today at ATI Auditorium, MINECO for public prosecutors and Judicial Officers. This training programme was jointly organised by Judicial Academy, Assam, Gauhati High Court and the state's Law & Judicial Department.
The training programme was inaugurated by Justice Malasru Nandi, Judge, Gauhati High Court. Justice M.A. Ali (Retd.), Director, Judicial Academy, Assam and NEJOTI and Justice Marli Vankung, Judge, Gauhati High Court also spoke on the occasion with the inaugural programme concluded by Pi Helen Dawngliani, Secretary, Law & Judicial Department with a vote of thanks.
The three new criminal laws will come into effect on 1st July, 2024. Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) will replace Indian Penal Code, 1860, Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 and Indian Evidence Act, 1872 respectively.
