Aizawl, the 10th February 2022 : Two Departments - Labour, Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Rural Development today made separate presentations on the workings of their respective Departments to Governor, Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati at Raj Bhawan. These presentations dwelt on the activities of the Department, status of implementation of Central Sector schemes focussed on skill development of youths in urban and rural areas.
At the meetings, the Governor shared his experiences on skill development and allied areas when he was a Member of the Consultative Committee on Skill Development during his parliamentary innings as Member of Parliament. The Governor mentioned that skill development programmes have become more important in contemporary times since government jobs today are limited, so the quality of training imparted by training partners and ITIs must be relevant and in line with employable skills that companies seek. Towards this end, the Governor instructed Department officials to frequently inspect training institutes to assess the quality of training being provided.
The Governor enquired about the status of implementation of Pradhan Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) being taken up by the Labour, Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Department and Rural Development Department respectively and gave his feedback.
