Union Minister of State for Home Jitendra Singh visited Aizawl today as a last leg of his tour of the three North Eastern States of Meghalaya, Nagaland and Mizoram. He flew in by helicopter from Kohima to Aizawl this morning where he was received at the Thuampui Helipad by senior state government officials; IG, DIG and other officers of BSF and DIG Assam Rifles.   

He called on the Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla at his official residence where they discussed a host of issues including security and modernization of police forces. The Union Minister also visited the BSF Sector Headquarters in Durtlang, Aizawl and had a interaction with the officers of the BSF. After that he visited the sick and infirm BSF soldiers at Composite Hospital of BSF within the same campus and interacted with the doctors also.

In the afternoon he left by chopper to visit the far flung Border Out Posts (BOPs) of BSF at Demagiri, Keslan and Phuldungsei which are near the Indo-Bangladesh border. Tomorrow he is scheduled to visit the famous Counter Insurgency & Jungle Warfare (CIJW) School at Vairengte in Mizoram.
