Aizawl, the 11th February 2022 : Union Minister of State for Rural Development & Steel Shri Faggan Singh Kulaste today reached Aizawl today on a one day visit. At noon, he interacted with officials from the Rural Development Department who briefed him on the activities of the Department particularly the implementation of central schemes under the Ministry of Rural Development.

Shri Faggan Singh Kulaste remarked the employment generation for people in rural areas must be intensified through the various central sector schemes so that people can have regular income. He asked Department officials to strengthen Self Help Groups (SHGs) and popularise them and also expand the existing marketing network for the benefit of SHGs. He also added that agricultural and horticultural products which have potential for sustaining incomes of people in rural areas must be accorded more importance and steps must be taken in this regard in a more focussed manner.

At the meeting held at Aijal Club, Secretary Rural Development Pu Vanlalngaihsaka and his team of officers from the Department gave a presentation to the Union Minister on various schemes being implemented by the Department.
