The United States Ambassador to India Mr. Kenneth I. Juster yesterday met with the Chief Minister of Mizoram Mr. Zoramthanga at the latter's residence at MacDonald Hill, Zarkawt. The two discussed state policies and possible areas of cooperation especially in road infrastructure and health care.

This is the first visit of Ambassador Juster to Mizoram and the purpose of his visit this time is to familiarize with Mizoram, meet senior state government officials and to visit U.S. Government-funded project site on HIV/AIDS. His itinerary includes a visit to Shalom at Lower Zarkawt, Aizawl today, which is an NGO run charity working for HIV/AIDS, Human Rights, Nutrition, Prisoner's Issues, Women's Development & Empowerment and Youth Affairs; a meeting with church leaders at Synod Office and meeting with Excise and Narcotics Department officials, after which he will depart for New Delhi.

The US Ambassador was accompanied by U.S. Consul General, Kolkata Ms. Patti Hoffman, Public Affairs Officer Mr. James Dragon and Assistant Public Affairs Officer Mr. Jay Treloar,  Global Affairs Specialist Mr. Sourabh Sen and Security Liaison Officer Mr. Subrata Debnath from the Consulate. Chief Secretary Mr. Lalnunmawia Chuaungo and Secretary to CM Mr. H.L. Rochungnunga accompanied the Chief Minister.
