A workshop to discuss corruption scenario in Mizoram entitled WORKSHOP ON CORRUPTION RISK AND PREVENTION was organized yesterday at the Excise and Narcotics Conference Hall by Chhimbial Chhantu, a civil society organization based in Lunglei. The Workshop was well attended by Government officials, Church Leaders, media persons, College lecturers, students, NGOS and Village Council Leaders.

Delivering the event’s Keynote Address, Lunglei SP Pu C Lalthanmawia, spoke about the need to address corruption at the grassroots level through awareness campaigns in schools right from the elementary level. He stressed upon the fact that students should be made aware of the dangers of corruption and learn about measures to prevent it, along with being introduced to relevant legal provisions. He also spoke at length about the state’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), its roles and responsibilities.

Pu Adam Saprinsanga, Editor, The Frontier Despatch spoke about 'Corruption Scenario in Mizoram' while Pu J. Miahlung, DLAO Lunglei spoke on 'Corruption Risk and Prevention in Public Sector'. Lunglei CJM Pi Julie Lalrinzami' also gave a lecture on 'Prevention of Corruption Act 1988'.

The day’s event concluded with a lively Q&A session. It may be noted that yesterday’s event was the first of its kind for Lunglei District wherein key stakeholders assembled under one roof to have a open discussion and dialogue on corruption and related issues.
