Dated Aizawl, the 22nd of November, 2024: Today, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma, the 11th meeting of the Mizoram State Board for Wildlife was held at the CM's Conference Hall.
1. The meeting approved the wildlife clearance for the project proposal of widening Pukzing to Silsury road. It will be recommended to the National Board for Wildlife.
2. The rate proposed by the AH & Vety Department to provide compensation for livestock losses caused by wildlife attacks was approved. AH & Vety was instructed to ensure its implementation from the next financial year.
3. For the first time in Mizoram, the old forest area above Kawnpui village, covering 620 hectares, which has been conserved by Kawnpui community for many years, will be declared a Community Reserve under Section 36 (c) of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
4. For the relocation of six families living within Dampui village, part of Thorangtlang Wildlife Sanctuary, compensation will be provided to facilitate their shift.
The meeting was attended by Pu Lalthansanga, Minister for EF&CC, Pu TBC Lalvenchhunga, Adviser to the CM, Pu T. Lalhlimpuia, MLA, and other members.
