Lawngtlai, the 4th May, 2020: Residents of Lawngtlai District who returned from northeast states of Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura as arranged by the Mizoram state government were received at the District Headquarters following strict precautionary measures and were quarantined in the designated quarantine facilities here at Lawngtlai. As of 4th May, 2020 at 5:00 pm, there were 173 returnees quarantined at the facilities.

The returnees, on being received at the district headquarters, were tested for COVID-19 with rapid test kits before putting them in the facility. All the results from rapid test kits were negative.

Quarantine facilities were arranged at three places in Lawngtlai. There were 98 quarantined in four blocks of medical quarters facility, 47 quarantined in Circuit House and 28 quarantined in Tourist Lodge. They were provided with foods, drinking water and other basic necessities. Besides officials on duty, volunteers from Govt Lawngtlai College and Govt Region Higher Secondary School NSS (National Service Scheme) also helped in maintaining these facilities.
