Aizawl, the 10th November 2020 : Mizoram’s iconic tourist festival – Anthurium Festival which could not be held with the regular fanfare as in the past took to virtual space this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The two day festival was inaugurated virtually by Chief Minister Pu Zoramthanga in the presence of Tourism Minister Pu Robert Romawia Royte today in Aizawl.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister Pu Zoramthanga said that the pandemic has wreaked havoc across the world and due to restrictions on gatherings; the Festival is being held virtually. He hoped that the Festival which has gained popularity with tourists in the last few years will enthral viewers online this year and Mizoram would be on their list of places to visit once the COVID-19 pandemic situation improves. Tourism Minister Pu Robert Romawia Royte invited people across the nation to partake in the Festival online on the channels of the local media partners – LPS, ZONET and DDK Aizawl and on the live streams on social media handles of the Tourism Department on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

Over the two day Festival, live performances by music bands and dance troupes; cultural and traditional shows and other activities will be live streamed by observing all SOPs.
