A two-day event “the 2nd Annual Conference of North East Chapter of Association of Surgeons of India” (2nd NECASICON 2019) was inaugurated at MC Cabe Hall, Aijal Club today. Dr. R. Lalthangliana, minister for Health & Family Welfare graced the event as chief guest.

Speaking at the occasion, the health minister praised the services rendered by NECASI members through surgical help to patients especially from deprived community, and their role in prevention and treatment of cancer, trauma etc. He also said that the government has accorded top priority to health sector in Mizoram and said inspite of many serious health challenges we faced in the north-east today, it is comforting to know a well-organised doctors’ community is giving their best effort to the sick and needies, and thanked them for their services.

Dr. Arvind Kumar, President, Association of Surgeons of India (ASI) also addressed the conference through skype live feed sharing the visions and responsibilities of ASI and its members.

North East Chapter of Association of Surgeons of India was established on 30th June, 172 surgeons from five north eastern states - Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim are members and 104 of them are life members.
