Aizawl, 26th March 2021 : The first of its kind ever organised by the Labour, Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (LESDE) Department, ‘PUM 2021 : Mizoram Innovation Fair’ was concluded today with the LESDE Minister Pu Lalchhandama Ralte gracing the closing function, accompanied by Mizoram Youth Commission Chairman Dr.Vanlaltanpuia, at Govt. ITI Complex, ITI Veng, Aizawl.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest LESDE Minister Pu Lalchhandama Ralte said that ‘PUM 2021’ had provided an excellent platform for local craftsmen and start-up entrepreneurs to exhibit their finished products and, at the same time, prove their potential for garnering a foothold both in the domestic and foreign markets. He also added that the Innovation Fair should continue to be included in the department's calendar of annual events.
Altogether there were 23 participants in ‘PUM 2021: Mizoram Innovation Fair', including ITI trainees and alumni, trainees at the Women’s Polytechnic and private firms from across Mizoram. The successful Innovation Fair has had a good response, so much so that there were more than a thousand visitors in the single day that it was opened to the public.
Among the 23 participants, who also competed with each other in 10 trade categories, the over-all winner was Dengrikhuma of Tuithiang Veng, Aizawl, who manufactures guitars under his Carpentry trade. He received a cash prize of Rs.1,00,000/- & trophy. The second prize was won by Gospel Lalfakzuali, Mission Vengthlang, Aizawl, who runs a Bakery & Confectionery trade. She received a cash prize of Rs.50,000/- & trophy. The third prize winner Zochansangi of Rahsi Veng, Lunglei, who has a Food Processing unit, received Rs.30,000/- & trophy. The participants who made it to the Top 10 list were also awarded with Rs.10,000/- & certificate each.
Besides these, ‘People’s Choice Award’ was bagged by Zochhuanmawia of ITI Veng, Aizawl, with his very innovative self-designed ‘Tank Overflow Controller’. Ms.Deborah Lalnunsiami, who participated in the Bakery & Confectionery trade category, also won the 'Special Award' for ITI trainees.
