The 72nd Republic Day, 2021 was celebrated in Serchhip District today, where the main function was organised at Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex.  The Deputy Commissioner Mr Kumar Abhishek, IAS, graced the occasion as Chief Guest, unfurling the National Flag and giving the Rashtryia salute.

National Flag was also unfurled at various government buildings at sunrise and Republic Day gifts were given to District Hospital, Mercy Hospital, Unity Orphanage Home, Shalom Special School, Zoar Deprived Children Home, Old Age Home, Adult Rehabilitation and District Jail in the morning.

In his speech, Chief Guest Serchhip DC Mr. Kumar Abhishek paid honour to all the men and women who had given their life and service for the freedom of the nation and for the setting up of the sovereign democratic republic of India. He expressed his sincere respect to those former leaders who devoted their life for the future of India. He also said that due to their invaluable service, India has now become one of the strongest nations in various fields in the world. The Chief Guest highlighted various achievements recently attained within the district by various govt departments. He also distributed Swachhta Ranking Award and Special Award for Cleanliness Volunteers in today’s celebration.
