Aizawl the 26th January, 2022 : The 73rd Republic Day of India was celebrated at Lunglei with a shortened programme at the DC Office Lawn amid the coronavirus pandemic. Pu Kulothungan A, IAS Deputy Commissioner was the Chief Guest at the event. The programme began at 8 am this morning amidst the ceremonial guard of honor by 2nd Battalion MAP, Luangmual.

Extending warm greetings to the citizens of Lunglei District, Deputy Commissioner Pu Kulothungan A reminded them to be mindful of both their Fundamental Rights as well as Duties towards the country. He thanked the Government officials and citizens for their contribution towards the development of the District, and appealed to them to continue striving for excellence in the works undertaken by their respective Departments. While reminding citizens to continue following CAB and guidelines under SOP, the Deputy Commissioner commended the collective efforts of the citizens of Lunglei District, VLTFs, NGOs, Churches, the media, and Government Departments, who have all worked tirelessly in combating this unprecedented crisis. 

The Deputy Commissioner then proceeded to deliver his Republic Day address in which he outlined all important achievements and work in progress under all the Department within the District.

This was followed by prize distribution to winners of the Cleanliness Competition 2021 under various categories. As the general public could not attend the celebration, the programme was featured Live on Cable TV.
