Lunglei the 26th January, 2023 : The 74th Republic Day of India was celebrated at Thuamluaia Mual, Lunglei,  with Pu Kulothungan A, IAS Deputy Commissioner as the Chief Guest. The programme began at 9:30 am amidst the ceremonial guard of honor by 23 Parade Contingents,3 Armed, ... Unarmed, ...School Contingents , 3rd Naga AR Band and Govt.High School Band.  Extending warm greetings to the citizens of Lunglei District, Deputy Commissioner Pu Kulothungan A reminded them to offer sincere gratitude, profound respect and humble homage to the founding fathers of the Nation, the great freedom fighters and to all those who toiled hard to give us the Constitution, which guarantees equal freedom and equal rights to each and every citizen of the country.

The Deputy Commissioner then proceeded to deliver his Republic Day address in which he outlined all important achievements and work in progress under all the Department within the District. He congratulated all the Departments for their hard work and achievements and urged all the citizens of Lunglei District to remember the noble visions of the founding fathers of the Indian Republic, and the four main ideals of Justice, Liberty, Equality and Fraternity as enshrined in the preamble of our Constitution.

On the Celeberation Function of Republic Day 2023 in Lunglei, Subedar Pyare Lal, 3rd Naga Bn. AR was awarded President Police Medal for Meritorious Service. Besides, different prizes were distributed to :- Best Parade contingent Unarmed : 1st. Student Police Cadet, Sacred Heart HSS, 2nd. Scout and Guide,Baptist English School, 3rd. NCC Lunglei Govt. College. In School Contingent : 1st. Adventist English School, Bazarveng, 2nd. 2nd Bn. MAP English Medium School, 3rd. JNV School Pukpui.

Under UD&PA , Lunglei Cleanliness Competition 2022 award winners are Govt. Offices : Information & Public Relations Office, Lunglei, Market : 3-Gate Bazar, School : Govt. Rahsiveng Middle School II, Institution : HATIM, Hotel : Tourist Lodge, Zotlang, Hospitals : UPHC, Sazaikawn, Locality - Salem Veng, Commercial Area : Rahsiveng, Workshop : TATA Motors Authorised Service Outlet, Ramthar, Best Sanitation Workers, Male- Vanlalvuana, Female-Lalhmingsangi.

District Nutri Garden Award was awarded to Serte Anganwadi Centre I, 3rd Naga Bn AR donated wheelchair, crutch and walker to 6 persons. On Republic Day 2023 Celebration different cultural programmes were performed by Kendriya Vidyalaya, Govt.College, Govt. J.Buana College, Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School, EMRS and MCSU. 3rd Naga Bn. Assam Rifles displays Pipe Band.
