Siaha; 11th June,2021: As District Level Committee on Green Mizoram Day,Siaha had resolved in its meeting on 8th June,2021, not to conduct inaugural function of GMD 2021, no function was conducted this year. However, as it was done on GMD every year, a massive tree plantation drive was undertaken by all the offices and NGOs to commemorate GMD-2021. A total of 1062 saplings, comprising 12 varieties of saplings were distributed to various offices and NGOs to be planted in their respective offices' compound and in some selected locations in and around Siaha town.

To commemorate GMD-2021,  Shri.Kesavan R,IAS, DC & Chairman District  Level Committee on GMD, Shri.F.Lawmkima,EM(Forest) MADC, Shri. L.Pricilla,EM(Soil &Water Consevation) and Shri.N.Vabeiratlua,DIPRO  have  planted Saplings at MADC Complex.

This Commemorative Tree plantation by officials  was followed by Prize Distribution, which was held at DC Conference Hall.

In this brief prize distribution function,3 best performing villages of Siaha District, in regard to  protection of  forest against wild fire and preservation of forest in its prestine existence, within their jurisdiction, during  2020-2021 were awarded with incentive cash prize and Certificate as follows:
 
1st prize winner-  Amobyu B was awarded with Rs.50,000/-  + Certificate
 2nd Prize Winner- New Laty was awarded with Rs.30,000/-  + Certificate and  3rd Prize Winner-Khopai was awarded with Rs.20,000/-  + Certificate.

Moreover, best 3 Newspapers selected for their performance in regard to dessimination of Fire Prevention Awareness to the public  were  also awarded  incentive cash prizes of Rs. 3000, Rs.2000 and Rs.1000  respectively to the 1st prize winner --The time of Maraland and 2nd Prize winner-- Maraland and 3rd prize winner---Moonlight

Speaking on this occasion, Shri.Kesavan congratulated Prize winner  and  applauded the commendable works done by Forest Dept,MADC and implored all the prize winners and stake holders  to continue their good works for future generation without any slacking off in their endeavors.


Shri. Kesavan handed over prizes to all the 6 prize winners, and all the prizes are sponsored by Department of Environment,Forests and Climate Change,GoM.
