Serchhip 5th July 2021: A meeting in connection with Research, Documentation and Promotion of Horticulture in Serchhip District under the scheme Support to TRIs known as ‘Project Vegetables & Fruits’ was held today at DC Meeting Hall under the chair of Mr. Kumar Abhishek, IAS, DC Serchhip.

The Project originated with submitting the proposal to Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India by Mr. Kumar Abhishek, IAS, DC through Department of Social Welfare & Tribal Affairs Mizoram. The Project was approved by the Central Government with DC Serchhip and Tribal Research Institute, Mizoram the nodal & executing departments and Horticulture Department, Mizoram University, Horticulture College & Research Institute, Thenzawl, etc., as the project partners. There shall be a monitoring unit and an implementing unit with clear terms of references.

The project has three main components which are baseline Survey to the whole district, determine how to improve production and increase cultivation areas and then processing and branding for better market achievements.

The meeting discussed various inputs and technical requirements for the baseline survey to be completed within two months.
