Lawngtlai, the 31st March, 2021: ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwife) School, Lawngtlai conducted a Capping and Lamp Lighting Ceremony for 4th batch students at the School Auditorium today.

The Ceremony was graced as a Chief Guest by Pi Marilyn Rualzakhumthangi, Project Director, DRDA Lawngtlai/Additional DC. Assistant Nursing Superintendent of Christian Hospital Lawngtlai Lalhlimpuii Hrahsel capped 20 first year students of 4th batch, and the newly capped students lighted their lamp and took an oath of nurse. Pi Lalrintluangi explained that the cap denotes responsibility and its white colour denotes sanctity, while lamp lighting is a tribute to Florence Nightingale - the lady with the lamp and it symbolises giving light to the world.

An opening song was performed by ANM Female Voice after which Pi MC Lalvarparhi, Staff Nurse, District Hospital Lawngtlai delivered an invocation. School Principal Pi C. Rothangpuii gave a brief report of the school. 2nd Year students performed a special number, "Nurses Song" and School Tutor Pi Baby Zothansiami proposed a vote of thanks. Presbyterian pastor Rev. Lallungmuana dedicated the students in prayer and ended the ceremony with a benediction.

The ceremony was attended by staff and students of ANM School Lawngtlai, parents, health department officials, government officers and representatives of NGOs and other invitees.

ANM School Lawngtlai was started in October 2017 with 20 students and the 1st & 2nd batches have passed out. Initially, it was under CMO Lawngtlai, but the Principal was conferred a power of Drawing & Disbursing Officer (DDO) in October, 2019. Currently, there are one principal, four tutors, eight non-teaching staff and 39 students. ANM is a two-year course and can be applied after passing XIIth. The session is October to September.
