Alongwith the rest of the world, International Anti Corruption Day was also observed here in Aizawl at Seminar held in the I & PR Conference Hall which the state Governor Shri Vakkom Purushothaman inaugurated the Seminar.

 Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that Corruption has many dimensions affecting political, economic and the social environments of all countries. He sated that it undermines democratic institutions, slows economic development and contributes to governmental instability. He also said that corruption discourages cooperation among people working for the common good and demanding and paying bribes results in social inequality and insecurity.

 Saying that it is the duty of all citizens to extend cooperation to the Government in its battle against corruption the Governor urged organizations to come forward like Peoples Right to Information and Development Implementing Society (PRISM) who organized this Seminar.

 We must remember that corruption affects all of us and therefore it is our duty to fight against corruption and the voice of the people must be raised against this practice if we wish to move forward and progress, the Governor added.

 In today’s Seminar, resource persons presented their papers on Corruption were made which followed by discussions. Representatives from leading NGOs, Institutions and prominent citizens attended amongst others.
