A 5-day training on fish rearing and management jointly organised by Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Lawngtlai District; State Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Mizoram and MANAGE Hyderabad in collaboration with District Fisheries Development Office, Lawngtlai took place during 23rd to 27th February, 2021.

The inaugural function chaired by Pu H. Lalhmingmawia, Assistant Technology Manager, ATMA, Lawngtlai District was held at BNRGSK Hall, Lawngtlai. Pi Lalremsangpuii, District Fisheries Development Officer, Lawngtlai delivered a welcome address and previewed the training schedules, which was followed by presentations from resource persons, demonstrations using models and interactions.

This training was organised under Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY). It aimed to impart technical know-how on scientific method of fish rearing and its management to the rural youth. It was participated by youth farmers under Fisheries Department, Lawngtlai District.

Pi Lalremsangpuii, DFDO Lawngtlai; Pu HC Lalrintluanga, Fisheries Extension Officer and Pu C. Ramthanmawia, Fisheries Demonstrator were the resource persons. Their topics covered management of ponds, composite fish culture, feed management and common carp breeding. A field visit was also conducted on 25th February at Saikah 'L' where on the spot demonstrations like setting up of hapa net, etc. were carried out.
