Dated Champhai,the 9th April, 2021: A.H & Vety. Department Champhai today organized Awareness Campaign on Transboundary Animal Diseases at Indo-Myanmar border Village Zote, Champhai District.  

Resource person Dr. C. Lalsawithuama, Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) Champhai maintained that most of the animal diseases are coming from outside the State, and he mentioned the recent incidence of high pigs mortality at Lungsen village in Lunglei District suspected to be African Swine Fever, he urged the bordering villages to take extreme precautionary steps regarding import of pigs across the border to successfully contain the spread of transborder animal diseases. 

The gathering mainly comprising village council members, farmers, and NGO leaders were taught on various transborder animal diseases, its prevention, strict  maintenance of bio-security measures, isolation of diseased animals and management of carcasses etc.
