Aizawl 1st September 2021: A meeting was held today at the Lunglei DC Office Chamber under the chairmanship of Lunglei DC Pu Kulothungan A to discuss implementation of BALA Anganwadi Centre under CSR for Lunglei District. The District has received CSR inflow of Rs 6.50 lakhs from Central Warehousing Corporation, Guwahati to transform 5 selected Anganwadis to BaLA (Building as Learning Aid) Anganwadi Centres. 


Officials of DC office, Social Welfare, ICDS, I&PR, Horticulture Departments were present at this meeting. 


The Deputy Commissioner explained that BaLA - Building as Learning Aid is about developing the physical spaces in schools - the classrooms, walls, floors, ceilings, corridors and the natural environment as learning resources for children. It incorporates the ideas of activity based learning, child friendly learning environments and inclusive settings for children with special needs. A vegetable garden will also be developed at these selected Anganwadi centres. Thanking the Central Warehousing Corporation, Guwahati for their CSR intervention, the DC expressed hope that these Centres would serve as models for other Anganwadi centres across the state. 


The meeting agreed upon Rahsiveng I, Bazar III, Pukpui I&II and Lungpuizawl II Centres for the BaLA intervention for Lunglei District. Teams were formed and work schedules charted out, with the meeting agreeing on a 2 months timeline for implementation of the project.
