Aizawl 1st September 2021: The newly re-constituted Lunglei District Road Protection Squad conducted its first inspection today at Lunglei town, after a few months of delay due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
At today’s inspection, the squad came across numerous cases of road encroachment by the public through placement of various construction materials, permanent parking of damaged/unused vehicles etc. Spot notices were issued to those found encroaching public roads. Some vehicle workshops found to encroach on the roads while carrying out repair/maintenance of vehicles were also issued notices and instructed to operate within their designated areas. Inspection of drainage systems of these areas was also carried out with the respective Village Council members in tow.
The Road Protection Squad submitted their activities and findings to the DC & Chairman Lunglei District Road Protection Squad, Pu Kulothungan A.
The squad comprises of members from the District administration, Police, PWD, PHED, LR&S, Transport, UD&PA, I&PR, LAD, Sub Hqrs YMA and Lunglei District Village Council Association.The squad is entrusted with inspecting and taking action against illegal encroachment of public roads and footpaths in Lunglei District.
