As a part of the ongoing nationwide 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebration, Lunglei District joined the rest of the State by organizing a ‘Health Mela’ at Lungsen Block yesterday. The Health Mela, jointly organized by National Health Mission (NHM) and the Health & Family Welfare Department (H&FW), was kicked off by Lunglei HPC Vice Chairman Pu Lawmawma Tochhawng at YMA Hall Lungsen North Branch.

There were 12 stalls covering various health programmes with 9 doctors attending to the public. Covid-19 vaccine was also administered at the mela. The stalls housed various programmes like non-communicable disease, tobacco, mental health, HIV/AIDS (MSACS), vaccination, etc. where free counselling and other services were carried out. Unique Health ID generation under Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission and Golden Card generation under AB-PMJAY were also carried out.

Block level health mela will continue in the District for the rest of the month, with subsequent melas scheduled to be organised at South Vanlaiphai for Hnahthial Block on 22nd April (Friday), Buarpui for Bunghmun Block on 26th April (Tuesday) and Haulawng for Lunglei Block on 29th April (Friday).
