Campaign against drugs, alcohol and tobacco targeting students in upper primary school level was today launched at kolasib Diakkawn YMA Hall by Kolasib Deputy Commissioner Pu Zoengsanga.

At the launching function, Pu Zoengsanga said that Alcohol, Drugs and tobacco products not only affect the physical health of a person but also the mental health and hence it is best that one keeps away from these un-healthy products. Further he said that the physical and mental health of a person is meant to maintained at its best and hence advised the students gathered to pay heed to the advice of their parents and teachers and abstain from these products and said that it would lead them in the right path of life which in fact is one important key to success.

Pu ZT.Vawra Hmar, District Consultant, National Tobacco Control programme (NTCP) elaborated on the proposed action plans for the campaign where he highlighted that the awareness campaign on ill-effects of alcohol, drugs and tobacco products and the importance of abstaining from them would be carried out in various upper primary schools and also training would be conducted for health workers, leaders of community based organizations and teachers.

At the function, Dr.C.Vanlalhlimpuia, District Nodal officer, NTCP gave a presentation on the ill-effects of alcohol, drugs and tobacco products and Miss T.Ramthanmawii, Miss Mizoram 2018 graced the occasion as Ambassador of the campaign.
