The Deputy Commissioner of Champhai district Pi Maria C.T. Zuali, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest today launched the Covid-19 inoculation drive in the district at the District Hospital Champhai. Dr. Zatluanga, District Medical Superintendent become the first person to get vaccinated in the district, followed by randomly selected 221 regular health care workers.

 

Speaking at the inaugural function, Pi Maria C.T. Zuali urged the public to have faith in the vaccine as it has gone through numerous valid scientific proof. She also appreciated the unexpected fast vaccine development which she asserted would normally take years to develop a new vaccine. Describing the geographical location of the district and the inconveniences, the availability of vaccine at a quick pace is a milestone for the health care facilities in the far corner district, she added. With a note expressing her hope to have a smooth and successful vaccination drive in the district, launched the vaccination drive in the district.

 

In the first phase, indigenous vaccine Covishield will be administered to priority group which includes health care workers, around 221 people from District Hospital Champhai (100), PHC Mimbung (43), CHC Ngopa (34) and PHC NE Khawdungsei (44) will receive shots at each of the selected 4 vaccination sites out of 16 within CMO Champhai jurisdiction.  

 

The inaugural programme presided by CMO Champhai Dr. R.Lianmawia also witnessed the detail report from District Immunization Officer Dr. P.B Zodingliana. According to the report, details of 1292 health care workers from CMO Champhai jurisdiction have been uploaded in the Covid Portal, 750 doses of Covishield vaccine have been acquired for the first inoculation drive.
