The Deputy Commissioner of Champhai Dr Naveen Aggarwal briefed the Mizoram Journalist Association members of Champhai District on the recently received best Leadership and Convergence at District Level POSHAN Abhiyaan Award 2018-19, conferred by Ministry of Women and Child Development, GOI and also elaborated them on the recently conducted Hb level test for adolescents from selected High Schools.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the POSHAN Abhiyaan literally means the Nutrition Mission, a holistic approach which aims at soothing away the problems of malnutrition amongst Children, Pregnant Women and adult women, a well nourished and provided essential nutrients to the targeted group, will definitely bear a healthy new born, he added. He also pointed that Mid Day Meal at School and provision of Nutrients, Iron and other necessary items at Anganwadi are being dispensed under proper supervision and digitalised records are being done on daily basis. He reiterated and thanked all the partakers; Anganwadi Workers, ASHA, SWD, H&FW Department workers and Society in doing their best and making the District bagging the well deserved POSHAN Abhiyaan Award.
Also the Deputy Commissioner highlighted recently conducted Haemoglobin Level test on a adolescent girls at selected High Schools. Dr Naveen Aggarwal mentioned that the normal range of Hb in human is 11-14. and the findings revealed that maximum students falled in the normal range while few students were below average, he opined that providing proper nutrition and remedial measures will bring them back into normalcy.
The MJA members expressed their appreciation on the sincere dedication and efforts rendered by concerned departments and District administration in achieving and making the District at esteemed position, further added their readiness to offer any kind of support wherever required.
