District Election Office, Champhai  organized Press Conference on  Electors Verification Programme (EVP) as part of ongoing Special Summary Revision of Electoral Roll, 2020. The Press Conference which witnessed Media fraternity from undivided  Champhai District was briefted by the District Election Officer Champhai Dr Naveen Aggarwal at  DC Conference Hall. The DEO is accompanied by the Election Officer Mr Lalnunfela Chawngthu and DIPRO Dr Lallawmkima.

Elaborating about  the Elector Verification Programme (EVP),  the DEO said that EVP is  newly introduced  initiative for registration of electors in the E- Roll so as to make a healthy, clean and error free Electoral Roll.  He mentioned that through EVP,  self checking and ECI level checking can be done providing two way verification, making it a stern error checking initiative. The electors can easily access and avail  their information on E-Roll and cross checking with valid documents recommended by ECI, entry of new voters, modification and shifting etc can be  done through EVP and also Geo tagging of Voter, Polling Station verification are  to be undertaken, he added. He further mentioned that the  Booth Level Officer (BLO)  are directed to conduct house to house campaign on mass education. The DEO urged all the voters to have keen interest and acquainted with EVP and keep in  touch with Common Service Centres, National Voters' Service Portal, Mobile Apps, ERO office and also said that the Toll Free Number- 1950 is specially designed and  dedicated for  the PwD Voters.

Speaking at length at the Press Conference, the Election Officer of Champhai Shri Lalnunfela Chongthu elaborated the newly introduced EVP and the activities included under this program. According to him, there are ECI registered  19 Common Service Centres  actively operating in the Undivided Champhai  District, and the Electoral Roll  Revision of newly formed Khawzawl District will be undertaken by DEO Champhai. He requested the media to cooperate and take active part in dessiminating information and drew the attention of general public in this  regard. 

The Media fraternity vowed to extend  their support to the DEO in making the healthy, clean and error free E-Roll for the whole District.
