Champhai Master Plan Committee held meeting yesterday at DC Conference Hall under the  Chairmanship of  Pu TJ Lalnuntluanga, Minister of State for Law and Judicial, Environment Forest & Climate Change, Transport Department and MLA for  Champhai South  Assembly Constituency. 

Pu TJ Lalnuntluanga said that the rapid growth and future prospect of the Town necessitated the Master Plan and the revived plan will come into a reality only when a stern determination and firm dedication is put into it.  He maintained that the Master Plan if implemented in full swing will transform the scenario of the town and adjoining areas and the  study team comprising experts from the UD&PA Department is on a Physical and questionnaire survey, the information accumulated through the initial survey   will be discuss widely  in the next meeting, he said. He also called for a sincere cooperation from the Officials, Public and NGO’s to make it happen. The MLA stressed the needs to conserve Paddy Fields, the Rice bowl of Champhai and also cited the proposal to make Champhai Town the first to materialise the Building Regulation in the State. 

At the meeting Pi R.Lalhmangaihzuali, Asst Director UD&PA elaborated the meaning of Master Plan, its salient features, procedures and said that it is a GIS based Master Plan, multidisplinary, Long legal document and Public interest.  The meeting also discussed at length about the  possible  solution to curb Garageless Vehicles, the main cause of Road traffic  and  the meeting notified that  registration of new  Vehicles without   authentic Garage Certificate will not be entertained by the District Transport Office. 

Meeting was attended by Pu S.L Naveen, DC Champhai;  Pu Rex Zarzoliana Vanchhawng, SP Champhai; Pu Zoremthara Ralte, SDO Sadar; All Head of Offices, NGO’s and Village Councils, among others.
