450/2026-2027
Aizawl, October 14, 2026: Chief Minister Shri Lalduhoma today attended the second day of the Mizoram Tourism Conclave 2026 at the Assembly Annexe Conference Hall. Lt. Col. Clement Lalhmingthanga, MLA, accompanied him. The theme of the conclave is “Investing in Mizoram CAN (Culture, Adventure and Nature) for Sustainable Development.”
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that with the railway service now extended to Sairang, Mizoram has become more accessible, attracting an increasing number of tourists. He stated that around six lakh tourists had visited the state up to September this year, and the number was expected to grow further. However, existing accommodation facilities were struggling to meet the rising demand, making tourism a promising sector for investment.
To attract more tourists, the State Government, in collaboration with the Central Government, is undertaking infrastructure projects worth ₹681.16 crore at various locations. The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of DoNER and NITI Aayog for their financial support. He also mentioned that projects worth ₹11.10 crore were being in the pipeline under the State's flagship scheme, Bana Kaih.
Emphasising the Government's commitment to tourism development in rural areas, the Chief Minister highlighted its focus on community-based tourism. He noted that the construction of 199 new homestays, supported through Bana Kaih, CSR initiatives and PM-JUGA, had recently been launched.
The Chief Minister identified three key strengths that could attract more tourists to Mizoram:
* Culture: The richness of Mizo traditions and way of life, along with peaceful communities and cleanliness, are valuable assets for tourism.
* Adventure: Activities such as paragliding competitions, half marathons and cycling events can attract visitors and promote adventure tourism.
* Nature: Mizoram's beautiful landscapes, hills, valleys, rivers and wildlife sanctuaries offer significant potential for attracting tourists.
He invited participants to explore investment opportunities based on these strengths and expressed his gratitude to everyone attending the conclave.
Tourism Minister Shri Lalnghinglova Hmar also addressed the gathering, highlighting the progress made by Mizoram in tourism development and the sector's considerable investment potential.
The second-day session was chaired by Dr. Lalrozama, IAS, Commissioner and Secretary. Shri Vanlaldina Fanai, Commissioner and Secretary, outlined the context setting of the conclave, while Dr. Lalrinchhani, Deputy Director, Tourism, spoke on the advantages of investing in Mizoram's tourism sector. Experiences were also shared by entrepreneurs engaged in tourism-related businesses in the state.
In the afternoon, participants from different states continued the conclave's proceedings with a Business-to-Business (B2B) session at Aijal Club.
