Champhai, October 14, 2026: Today, Pu Srinivas R. Katikithala, Secretary, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Government of India, who is on a two-day visit, visited Keilungliah Dam and Zokhawthar.

The DoNER Secretary was accompanied by Pu Nilambuj Sharan, Senior Economic Adviser, Ministry of DoNER; Pi Ramdinliani, Secretary, Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Department; Pi Maria CT Zuali, Secretary, Horticulture Department; and other district officials.

Keilungliah Dam has been planned to meet the water requirements of Champhai town and provide irrigation water to farmers during the dry season. It is also intended to promote tourism and recreation, improve livelihoods through fish farming, enhance the town’s surroundings, and contribute to a pleasant local climate.

Following the visit to the dam, the DoNER Secretary met with Assam Rifles officials at their camp in Zokhawthar. He subsequently visited the Zokhawthar Land Customs Station, where the station staff briefed him on their operations and the work they carry out.
