Dated Serchhip, the 7th October, 2024: The Mizoram Journalists Association (MJA) General Headquarters, organized a Seminar on Cyber Crime today at the Serchhip Press Club. The event was graced by Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma, who also serves as the MLA of Serchhip constituency, and he officially inaugurated the program. This seminar marks the first in a series of similar events to be held across eight district headquarters by the MJA.

In his speech, the Chief Minister highlighted the rapid increase in cyber crime cases across the country and stressed the importance of public awareness in every internet-based activity. He emphasized, “As prevention is better than cure, we must prioritize preventive measures in all our transactions and communications.”

He also mentioned that the Mizoram government established a Cyber Crime Police Station on May 20, 2022. In the same year, 158 cyber crime cases were registered, followed by 72 cases in 2023, and 33 cases so far this year. The Chief Minister urged the public to promptly report any suspicious calls, messages, or activities related to cyber crime to the nearest police station.

The seminar was chaired by Pu C. Lalrambuatsaiha, President of the Mizoram Journalists Association. Pu Zonunsanga, Addl. SP, CID Crime, delivered a detailed presentation to the journalists in attendance.
