AIZAWL, the 7th October, 2024: The National Symposium on Vision Aizawl City After 20 Years was held today at Government Aizawl College, Mualpui, with the theme "Making Aizawl a Liveable and Safe City." The symposium was funded by Aizawl Smart City Ltd. Hon'ble UD & PA Minister Pu K. Sapdanga inaugurated the symposium at 10:30 a.m.

In his inaugural speech, Pu Sapdanga emphasized that Aizawl city is still young, with immense potential for growth and development, and vast room for improvement in various sectors. He stressed that moral reformation of its citizens is the first and foremost approach to making Aizawl a liveable and safe city. Pu Sapdanga reminded college students that their mindset and way of living today will determine how Aizawl city will become in 20 years. He urged them to give serious thought to this aspect for their children's future and act accordingly with utmost diligence.

He exhorted students to be job creators, not seekers, emphasizing that hard work and honesty beget success. However, he cautioned that success without religion can make a person proud and lead to downfall. Therefore, he advised students to be diligent, honest, and courageous in the face of hardships. The minister thanked the organizers for conducting the symposium and wished them grand success.

Today's program was divided into three sessions: inaugural, technical session I, and technical session II.

Inaugural Session was Presided over by Dr. Lalmalsawma Khiangte, HoD, Department of Political Science, and Pu Lalbiakzuala, Principal, GAC, who delivered the welcome speech. Pu CC. Lalchhuangkima, CEO, Aizawl Smart City Ltd., delivered the keynote address, highlighting problems and challenges Aizawl city may face in 20 years.

   In the Technical session I:  Pu HVL. Zarzosanga, Project Coordinator, ASUTP, spoke on "Vision for Urban Mobility."  Pu Andrew Lalhruaia, JD, UD&PA, discussed "Vision for Infrastructure in Aizawl After 20 Years."  Pu Lalremruata Kullai, JMC, presented "AMC in Urban Local Governance After 20 Years in Aizawl."  Prof. Benjamin L. Saitluanga, MZU, shared "Vision for Aizawl Livable City After 20 Years."

Technical Session III (online session at 7:00 p.m.) will be presided by Dr. C. Lalengkima, Asst. Professor, Department of Pol. Sc., and Pu Ramengmawia Bawitlung, PhD candidate, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Bombay will be the Main speaker.
