Dated Aizawl, the 5th October, 2024: In a significant development for Mizoram’s connectivity, Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma today flagged off the doubling of IndiGo flights between Aizawl and Delhi at Lengpui Airport. This expansion in air service marks a major step forward in enhancing the state's link with the rest of the country.

In his address during the flag-off ceremony, the Chief Minister expressed his sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, and IndiGo Airlines for their support in responding to his request for increased flight frequency. He emphasized that the additional flights will not only improve air transportation but will also strengthen Mizoram’s ties with the rest of India across various sectors, fostering economic, cultural, and social integration.

Pu R.K. Singh, IAS (Retd.), Special Director of IndiGo, also spoke at the event. He highlighted that the decision to increase flight services was made with the goal of boosting both economic growth and socio-cultural connections between Mizoram and the rest of the country.

The flag-off function was attended by several dignitaries, including MP Pu Richard Vanlalhmangaiha, MLA Pu H. Lalzirliana, Chief Secretary Dr. Renu Sharma, Commissioner and Secretary to the Chief Minister Pu Vanlaldina Fanai, as well as officials from the Mizoram Civil Aviation Department and representatives from IndiGo Airlines.

Starting today, IndiGo will double its flights between Aizawl and Delhi, increasing from 5 to 10 flights per week. There will be a daily flight, with additional services on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. This increased frequency is expected to create new opportunities for trade, tourism, and improved connectivity for the people of Mizoram.
