Chief Minister Mr. Zoramthanga yesterday flagged off GoAir's inaugural flight from Lengpui Airport. GoAir has now daily flights to and from Aizawl, with the city being the 25th domestic destination for the airline. This is the first Aizawl to Guwahati flight service available to the state after Jet Airways discontinued their service in the region on the 10th of February this year.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister expressed his gratitude that the people of Mizoram are once again able to avail flights to and from Guwahati. He described the various measures taken to improve and upgrade Lengpui Airport to increase it's capacity, expressing his hope that more airlines will fly to Aizawl.

GoAir flight will depart from Guwahati at 6:50AM and arrive in Aizawl at 7:50 AM hours. The return flight will depart from Aizawl at 08:40 AM and arrive in Guwahati on 09:50 AM. From the 27th onwards, there will be flights to and from Kolkata to Aizawl as well.

Mr. Sanjeev Jindal, Regional Executive Director, Airport Authority of India (AAI), Mr. Harjinder Singh Bhasin, Vice President, GoAir and Mr. Lalnunmawia Chuaungo, Chief Secretary to the Govt. Of Mizoram also spoke on the occasion with the short inaugural programe ending with a vote of thanks from Mr. Ashish Kundra, Commissioner, GAD. Mr. C. Lalramzauva, Adviser to CM, DGP Mr. S.B.K. Singh, Civil Aviation Principal Consultant Wing Commander Mr. J. Lalhmingliana and others were present.
