Chief Minister Mr. Zoramthanga today held policy briefing with members of the Horticulture Development Board, of which he is the chairman, at the CM's cabinet meeting room.

The Chief Minister emphasized that food security is one of the main aim of the flagship socio-economic development policy of the state and thus self sustenance and sustainability in horticultural crops should be the goal of the horticulture development board, and called for increased drive towards privatization and mechanization for large scale productivity in the primary sector.

Today's meeting touched on various issues including water harvesting and irrigation, promotion of organic farming, crop selection and zoning, mixed cropping, transportation and storehousing.

The Horticulture Development Board is headed by the Chief Minister who is the Minister of Horticulture. Vice Chairman is Mr. F. Lalnunmawia, and Secretary of Horticulture Mr. J.C. Ramthanga, Additional Chief Secretary of the board secretary. Mr. H. Rammawi, Planning Board Vice-Chairman and Mr C. Lalramzauva, Adviser to CM also attended the meeting as invitees.
