Aizawl, 12.06.2024: Civil Hospital, Aizawl is pleased to announce the successful renovation of Labour Room and Maternity Ward at O&G building. The renovated Labour Room and Maternity Ward was officially inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Mizoram Pu Lalduhoma on 12th June 2024.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister, in his speech talked about the various efforts taken up the government to improve Infant Mortality Rate in the state. He stated that while Mizoram is in a relatively better position, this is no cause for complacency and expressed his hope that the newly renovated Labour Room and Maternity Ward will prove to be beneficial for many.
The initiation of this project was done under the guidance of Mrs. Nazuk Kumar, Chairman, RKS Governing Body, Civil Hospital, Aizawl -cum- Deputy Commissioner, Aizawl District, Aizawl. The renovation work was carried out during December 2023 till June 2024. Senior Medical Superintendents Dr. ST Lalruatfela and Dr. Zoramthanga played a pivotal part in the completion of the project.
The project is crucial for improvement in the healthcare facilities for expectant mothers and newborns. The project was funded by Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS), Civil Hospital Aizawl. This facility serves women from all strata of society, from across the state and will go a long way in reducing maternal mortality rate and infant mortality rate. The renovated ward now features modern and well-equipped facilities including
• Expanded and upgraded High Dependency Unit
• State of the art labour and delivery room
• Enhanced infection control measures
• Improved patient privacy and comfort
• New expanded toilet block with 7 units
• New post natal and ante natal wards, where more number of patients can be accommodated
• Enhanced facilities for doctors and staff
The event was attended by Chairman and Member Secretary, RKS Governing Body, Civil Hospital, Aizawl, all HoD’s, doctors and Nursing Staff. It was received with much applause from the staff and patient alike.
The renovation project is a testament to dedication of all Doctors and Nursing staff to improve maternal and new born care. The hospital is committed in providing the best possible care for women and newborn in the community.
