Aizawl, 23rd November 2024: The 8th North East Mini Jamboree of Bharat Scouts & Guides was inaugurated today by the Chief Minister, Pu Lalduhoma, who is also the President of Mizoram Bharat Scouts & Guides, at the Bharat Scouts & Guides Mizoram State Training Centre, Tanhril.

In his speech, the Chief Minister expressed gratitude to all participants who attended the Mini Jamboree. He hoped the event would be enjoyed meaningfully, strengthening bonds among the participants. He emphasized that even though languages and cultures may differ, unity and mutual understanding can be achieved for the betterment of the country. He stated that this shared effort reflects the aspirations of Bharat Scouts & Guides, whose mission is to build a better India. He encouraged the participants to embody the spirit of happiness and service to others, as advocated by Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scouts & Guides movement, who said, “True happiness is to bring happiness to others.” He also extended his appreciation to Mizoram Bharat Scouts & Guides for organizing the event successfully.

Dr. KK Khandelwal, IAS (Retd.), Chief National Commissioner, expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister for his support. He acknowledged the dedicated efforts of Mizoram Bharat Scouts & Guides in advancing the movement and announced that the Chief Minister would soon be conferred the prestigious Silver Elephant Award. He handed over the letter of nomination for the award to the Chief Minister during his speech.

This award, the highest national recognition in Bharat Scouts & Guides, is given for outstanding contributions and leadership. The Silver Elephant Award is usually presented by the President of India, and arrangements for its conferment are underway.

The Chief National Commissioner further praised Mizoram Bharat Scouts & Guides for their achievements and highlighted their contributions to the Bharat Scouts & Guides movement across the nation.

Pu H. Lalhmingthanga, Director of Sports & Youth Affairs and Mizoram State Commissioner of Bharat Scouts & Guides, delivered a welcome speech while Pu Amar B. Chettri, Executive Director of Bharat Scouts & Guides, delivered a keynote address of the event.

The Mini Jamboree will continue until 28th November, during which various activities and programs will be conducted. This is the second time Mizoram is hosting the North East Mini Jamboree. Though primarily aimed at the North East region, it has also drawn around 300 participants from other states across India.
