Dated Hnahthial, the 23rd November, 2024 : Adv. George Kurian, Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying paid a visit to Hnahthial District yesterday. The Union Minister of State met with officers of several departments in the district and visited a number of projects being implemented by the District under several Central Schemes. The Union MoS was accompanied by Mrs. Rita Lalnunmawii Pachuau, Deputy Commissioner, Hnahthial District and several key officials in the district.

Shri George Kurian reached Rallangtlang Helipad at 01:30 pm and had a meeting at Horeb Lodge Conference Hall with officials of various departments in the district. Several key issues were discussed, mainly pertaining to the implementation of projects under the Central Schemes such as- PM Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, Mid Day Meal, Kisan Credit Card, Ayushman Bharat Mission and different schemes under the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.

Shri George Kurian listened to the obstacles and challenges put forward by the officials while implementing these projects. He also inquired about the infrastructural requirements of the District Hospital and the District College. Consequently he expressed his sympathy upon the fact that the District College has only an Arts Stream and assured that he would avail fundings from the Centre for the establishment of Science Stream in the College. He also assured that all the needs and requirements put forward by the officials are taken into considerations and that prompt actions will be taken in these regards.

After the meeting was over, the Union MoS visited the Anganwadi-cum-creche and inspected its facilities. He further visited the AH&Vety department building and met with officials of the department. He advised the officials to submit a detailed report of the department's requirements. He later inspected the District Hospital, its campus and facilities, where he was briefed about the requirements for a Pathologist besides several others. He then visited a Solar Pump House project at Leite under Jal Jeevan Mission which currently feeds 198 homes. The Union Minister of State was very impressed by the implementation of the project. He also inspected the residence of K.Lalchhuanawma, Lungleng Veng, constructed under the PM Awas Yojana (Urban).

A grand reception was later held at KVK complex where he was greeted with performances of Cheraw Dance, and Pipe Band by the boys of Southern High School. In the complex, several stall exhibitions were held under various departments like Agriculture, Sericulture, AH& Vety, ICDS, Horticulture, Fisheries, MzSRLM, MHIP, etc.

The Union Minister of State will stay at Hnahthial for a night and will be leaving by a helicopter at 08:30 am for Lengpui Airport. He is then scheduled to reach Delhi thereafter.
