The Chief Minister of Mizoram, Pu Zoramthanga visited Lunglei this week to inspect key infrastructure development sites in the District. He was accompanied by Agriculture Minister Pu C. Lalrinsanga, Sports Minister Pu Robert Romawia Royte, and other officials from Aizawl.

Laying the foundation stone of the proposed Residential Sports School at State Sports Academy, Zobawk, Lunglei, the Chief Minister thanked and commended the Sports and Youth Services Department for setting up sports infrastructure in various parts of the state, and paving the way for talented youth to hone their skills in various sports disciplines. He also thanked the Sports & Youth Services Minister Pu Robert Romawia Royte for his visionary leadership. The Chief Minister also stated that upholding our culture and tradition should remain our key priority, and that we should continue to promote and honour Mizo indigenous games and sports. 

The proposed Residential Sports School at State Sports Academy, Zobawk, Lunglei would be set up under the Central Government’s Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) scheme at an estimated cost of  Rs. 3430.98 lakhs.

The Chief Minister and his team also visited ongoing projects in Lunglei such as Lunglei District Park at Zobawk, Truck terminal at Luangmual, and proposed site of Lunglei District court building. He also attended a Press Conference with mediapersons of Lunglei District.
