The Chief Minister Pu Zoramthanga today inaugurated offices of the 14 boards under the state's flagship program, Socio-Economic Development Policy (SEDP) at the Secretariat Annex-II Building at Treasury Square, Aizawl.

In the inaugural function held at Assembly House Annex Conference Hall, the Chief Minister said that the SEDP aims to be an exemplary development policy for other northeast states in development of the social sector as well as economic sectors, citing the recently launched state healthcare scheme as a precursor to other developments to come in the future. The Chief Minister reiterated that the SEDP is not a dole but rather a policy to facilitate different development works, projects in line with the SEDP guidelines, which the boards will execute and monitor. The SEDP guidelines emphasize equity in economy and welfare.

Dr. Z.R. Thiamsanga, Vice-Chairman, Health & Family Welfare Board also spoke on the occasion, expressing his gratitude to the government for establishing office spaces for all 14 boards in a short time. He spoke of the various works to be taken up by the boards and the need of public support and cooperation for successful implementation of their policies.

Today's function saw the attendance of Dy. Chief Minister Pu Tawnluia, Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr. R. Lalthangliana, Dy. Speaker Er. Lalrinawma, Law & Judicial Minister Pu. T.J. Lalnuntluanga, Sports Minister Pu Robert Romawia Royte and the various Board Vice Chairman, Board members, councilors from AMC and other invited guests.

Each 14 Boards under SEDP is chaired by a minister.
