No.65/2020-2021
Aizawl, the 24thMay 2020 : Chief Secretary Pu Lalnunmawia Chuaungo today reviewed the status and quantum of available Government Quarantine Facilities in view of the arrivals of stranded residents of Mizoram from other parts of the country in the state, which is expected to peak in the next few days, with senior officials from various Departments.
Pu Lalnunmawia Chuaungo highlighted the importance of Home Quarantine for arrivals as laid down in the SOP in light of the possibility that government facilities might not be enough to accommodate all arrivals from outside the state. He remarked that the Government of Mizoram was taking all necessary steps to ensure screening of arrivals stringently by employing RAT and other measures at the point of entry or at the quarantine centres. He further remarked that Mizoram perhaps might be the first state to use RAT to screen arrivals of stranded residents as a precautionary measure, before they are quarantined in the facilities.
The meeting reviewed the existing facilities in the state and noted that more quarantine facilities need to be identified immediately in consultation with community leaders at the community level in the localities and villages. The meeting remarked that the example set by the Church in allowing the use of Church Halls for quarantine facilities had been welcomed by all sections of society and echoed the government’s gratitude to church leaders for lending a helping hand. The meeting decided that a similar initiative at the community level to identify Community Institutional Facilities need to given immediate importance and a roll out of the proposal was discussed. The meeting also discussed optimal usage of quarantine facilities by neighbouring localities/villages through sharing of such facilities.
