Children's Day 2019 was observed today at Central YLA Hall, Lawngtlai as organised by World Vision India (Chhimtuipui Area Development Programme), District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA).

The function was attended by students of various schools of Lawngtlai town and officers of various departments. Pi Vanlalhruaii, District Programme Officer, Social Welfare Department graced the function as Chief Guest and C. Laltanpuii, Lecturer, Govt Region HSS was the master of ceremony. District Child Protection Officer Pi Mary Lalremruati delivered a welcome speech, Counsellor of DCPU N. Darchhingpuii had a speech on Children's Day and Legal Aid Counsel of DLSA Pu C. Lalrinfela spoke on child rights.

In this function, Sparkle Kids Pre-School children performed a special item. Children's Club, Ngurnunsangi English School and Downtown English School students performed a variety of dances. Solos and group singing were presented by Ruthi Lalremruati (Class-VI, Govt Bethel MS), Heidi VL Lianchhungi (Class-VI, Govt Bazar MS), Lalremruati (Class-IX, Downtown English School) and Don Bosco School Children's Choir. The function ended with prize distributions and a vote of thanks proposed by Protection Officer (Institutional Care) Pi PC Malsawmtluangi.

The essay writing competition was won by H. Hmangaihzuali (Cl-X, Don Bosco School), with Jenifer V. Lalbiakdiki (Cl-X, Downtown English School) and Ezra Lalhuzama (Cl-IX, ML Junior English School) getting the second and third prize respectively. ST Lailianthangpuii (Downtown English School) got the first prize in the drawing competition, Henry Lalnunpuia (Cl-X, Govt Region High School) got the second prize and Sumita Vanhlamawii (Cl-IX, Govt Region High School) got the third prize. The open photography competition was won by Kiddy Vanchhawng, followed by V. Lalengvara and K. Lalbiakzama. The topic for these competitions was 'happy childhood'.
