On 8th August 2018, Children’s Film Society of India (CFSI) under Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (I&B) collaborated with District Administration, Aizawl to organise three days film festival ‘Children’s Film Bonanza’ at Lal Thanhawla Auditorium, Aizawl. The motto of this festival is ‘Promoting Every Child’s Right to Entertainment’. It was inaugurated by Shri Lal Thanzara, Minister of Information & Public Relations (I&PR) Department, Government of Mizoram.

Shri Lal Thanzara welcomed the efforts made by  Children’s Film Society of India (CFSI) and District Administration, Aizawl for conducting film festival solely for children. He said that Children’s Film Bonanza is an event which is very much needed in today’s technology driven world where children are exposed to gadgets from a young age. He added ‘It is not the mobile games you played that you will remember later but the time spent with family and friends’. He spoke about the utility of film in children’s education and how it can be used for teaching everything from academics to culture to religion. Children’s Film Society of India (CFSI) CEO Smt. Swati Pandey had graced this function. She said that out of 270 film by Children’s Film Society of India (CFSI), only six (6) films were dubbed in mizo language. She further expressed her desire to translate more children’s film in local language so that in the coming years, more films can be screened.

Six (6) films dubbed in local language (mizo) will be screened for students from Class V-XII of Government and Private Schools.

The inaugural function was chaired by Dr. A. Muthamma, Deputy Commissioner, Aizawl. It ended with vote of thanks made by Smt. Lallianpuii, Jt. Director of I&PR and State Films Development Nodal Officer. It was attended by officers and staffs from Deputy Commissioner, Aizawl, School Education Department, Information & Public Relations (I&PR) Department, teachers and students from different schools in Aizawl city.
