Kolasib dated 1st August 2023: A committee discussing on the identification of muck disposal site between Vairengte and Rengtekawn for the construction of 4-Lane road was conducted today at DC Conference Hall, Kolasib. Mr. John LT Sanga, Deputy Commissioner chaired the meeting which was attended by CALA, DFO, Settlement Officer, NHIDCL Project Management Unit (Kolasib), representative from Village Council and YMA, Vairengte, Bilkhawthlir and N.Chhimluang.

In the meeting, it was pointed out that 8 sites in package 3 and 7 sites in package 4 have been identified so far for the purpose of muck disposal, which may later be altered to reduce environmental damage if better suggestions are available through the District level committee. It was also mentioned that no additional compensation shall be arranged for Muck disposal sites as the land will not be acquired, instead royalty will be paid to the land owner as per agreement made with the respective contractor.

Road connectivity being one of the major pillar for development Mr. John LT Sanga emphasized the committee to make careful decisions to bring about a balance in carrying out developmental works which will least hamper the environment.
